The Milford Recreation Department announces registration for the 2016-17 Youth Basketball Season will begin on Monday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m.

The teams and coaches that participated together last season will remain together, as they always have, but everyone will still need to register.

New individual players or players looking to change teams will be able to register for the league and will be placed on teams by the player evaluation draft.  Those interested in coaching should also register.

Teams will practice once a week and play games once a week on week nights in the Milford Recreation Department's League.  Teams will also be eligible participate in the Milford Knights Pre-Season Tournament and the CT HOOPFEST Tournament.

Player evaluation for new players and those looking to change teams will be held at the Parsons Complex Gymnasium on Wednesday, September 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Practices will begin the week of October 10 and games are scheduled to begin the week of November 28.

The registration fee is $77.50 per child and the deadline to register is Sunday, September 25.

Registration for the Milford Recreation Department's popular Developmental Basketball Program (Boys & Girls grades 2 & 3) will begin on Monday, September 12.

For those players interested in playing travel basketball, Milford Knights Basketball (“MKB”) will be kicking off the 2016-17 season with tryouts in September (dates to be announced).  Practices will begin in October with games starting the following month.  The MKB program provides Milford boys and girls from fourth through eighth grades with the opportunity to play an extensive basketball season.  Teams typically play 40 games. This program is separate and distinct from the Milford Recreation Department basketball league. For more information go to www.milfordknights.com

The MKB program is seeking qualified adults to act as team coaches.  If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to milfordknightstravel@gmail.com Include your contact information, the grade and gender you would like to coach, and your qualifications. 








Important Dates
  • Registration begins on August 22 - Deadline to register is September 25.
  • Player draft and assignment to teams will occur the week of October 3.
  • Practices Start on Tuesday, October 11.
  • Pre-Season Tournament will be held in early November.
  • League games will start the week of November 28.
  • CT Hoopfest will be played in February.
  • The Girls 16-Under and the Boys High School Division teams will be formed after the High School Tryouts. The deadline to register for these teams will be December 4. League games will start on or about December 10. These teams will also be given reversible jerseys. Teams will be able to pick team names and logos.
  • Registration for the popular Developmental Basketball Program (Boys & Girls Grades 3 & 4) will begin on September 12.

  • Specific times will be announced for each grade and division.
  • Returning players staying on the same team do not need to attend.

Draft & Coaches Meeting
The Milford Recreation will hold its’ 2016-17 Youth Basketball Player Draft & Coaches Meeting as outlined below.

*All Girls’ Divisions Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:30 p.m. Conference Room C of the Parsons Complex
*Boys’ 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Tuesday, October 4, 2016 6:30 p.m. Conference Room C of the Parsons Complex
*Boys’ 7th & 8th Grade Wednesday, October 12, 2016 5:30 p.m. Conference Room C of the Parsons Complex

All teams should have a representative in attendance.

The draft format may vary in each particular league and that format will be decided by the Recreation Department with input from the coaches at this meeting.

Conference Room C is located on the 2nd floor of the Parsons Complex and is easily accessible by using door #11 on the West Main Street side of the building.
