Adult Slow Pitch Softball in Milford has a long history and is very popular with its residents.  With over 85 adult teams and boasting several USA Softball National Champions from Milford, softball is one of the most successful programs in the state and is recognized Nationally.  

Division's of play for Men:  Tournament League (Supplied Composite Bat), Recreation Wood Bat League, Industrial Recreation Wood Bat League, Master (Over 35), Seniors (Over 50 & Over 62 Leagues), 

Division's of play for Women: Recreation League.

Adult Slow Pitch Information
The Milford Recreation Department announces that it will begin taking team registration for its 2019 USA SOFTBALL Adult Softball Leagues on February 1, 2019 via www.milfordrecreation.com and in person at the Milford Recreation Department. Only submission of all registration fees shall reserve a spot.

Registration is on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS to Milford teams and will conclude on Thursday, February 28, 2019 or when league limits are met.

Fees
  • Entry Fee & CT USA SOFTBALL Team Fee $250.00 per team – payable to City of Milford (2 separate checks $200/$50)
  • Grandfather Fee (if applicable) $50.00 per player (max 6) – payable to City of Milford. Must register in person.
  • Non Resident Fee (NEW) (Men’s & Women’s Recreation Division only): $100.00 per player (4 max per team) - payable to City of Milford. Must register in person.
  • Umpire Fee (2 man) $35.00 per team / per game – payable in cash at game time
  • Umpire Fee (1 man) $25.00 per team / per game - payable in cash at game time
  • The Recreation Department no longer collects a Forfeit Fee. If a team forfeits they must submit a check in the amount $70 payable to City of Milford prior to their next scheduled game.

Eligibility
These leagues are open to teams comprised of Milford Residents or Real Estate Taxpayers, All participants must have proof of eligibility on their person at all times. (NEW) All players with the exception of the Seniors and Industrial teams must create an account at www.milfordrecreation.com and register for their respective league(s) as an individual. Individual registration for residents is free. Non-residents and Grandfathered player’s MUST register in person at the Recreation Department. Paper rosters are no longer required (Senior’s & Industrial League excluded) however all players must submit photo identification.

EXCEPTIONS:
A. Men’s and Women’s Recreation Division (NEW) – Teams are permitted four non-residents and up to six Grandfathered* players per team. Non-residents and Grandfathered player’s MUST register in person at the Recreation Department. Grandfathered players must submit his/her credentials proving Grandfather status. ALL PLAYERS, RESIDENT OR OTHERWISE, MUST SUBMIT PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

B. Industrial Teams – All members of the team must be full time benefit employees of the Milford Based Company (e.g. , Subway, Fire Dept) for which they work. The company’s personnel official must submit a Notarized Employer Statement to verify employment. Industrial Teams cannot be combined with non-employee Milford residents.

C. Grandfather Clause – Eligible Former Residents who grew up and lived in Milford and went through grammar school and high school while living in Milford OR who as an adult lived in Milford for a minimum of 10 years before moving out of town.
(Maximum of 6 players per team, who must submit a Former Resident Affidavit Form)

D. Men’s Open , Men’s Over-35 Master’s Men’s Senior’s - Teams and/or individuals may be residents and/or non-residents, in order to provide a league. See special note above.

How to Register
In order to register a team, THE COACH will need to set up a household account; you do not have to wait until February 1 to set up an account. Please click on the link below that represents the league your want to register your team for. This registers your team and secures your team spot.

NEW 2019 - All resident members of your team (Industrial & Senior Divisions Excluded) must create a household account and register for free as individual at www.milfordrecreation.com. Registration for residents is free. Non-residents and Grandfathered player’s MUST register in person at the Recreation Department. Paper rosters are no longer required except in Senior & Industrial Leagues however all players in all other leagues must submit photo identification.

Eligible Former Residents (Grandfathered Clause): Each eligible former resident must be processed individually each time. Players who are eligible under this provision are not legal players until the signed Former Resident Affidavit Form is on file with the Recreation Department, also available via the link below.

Those individuals who do not have a team can register below as a free agent and you will be added to the Free Agent list. However there is no guarantee you will get on a team your information will simply be given to the coaches in the event that they are looking for a player.

Required Equipment
  • Bases Each team must have a set of thrown down bases including a safety first base.
  • Balls Each team must supply one new ball per game (see specifics in Rules & Regualtions).
  • Bats Each team must provide their own bats (Exception: Open Composite Bat League)
  • Strike Zone Mat (Men’s Composite Bat and Men’s Seniors Only)

Cancellation Information
  • In the event of inclement weather, the cancellation decision will be made at 4:00 p.m.
  • Cancellation Information will be posted on MilfordRecreation.com
  • If the program is canceled an email and/or text message will be sent to all registered participants.
  • Please be sure to update your Household Account with your current contact information and that you opt to receive cancellation information.

All residents (MEN & WOMEN) must individually register and agree to the Waiver of Liability and Indemnification Agreement. The deadline to add players is May 31, 2019.
